Hambletonian Recap, News from Sen. Jean Stanfield and more

A summer update…
Eli Perris

Dear NJAEP Members;

The board and I hope your summer has been wonderful. The return of the Hambletonian CE was a welcome change from our life of zoom calls.  It was wonderful to see colleagues in person again. The meeting was well attended and as always the speakers were fantastic.

In other news:

Sen. Jean Stanfield, NJ 8th District is proposing to re-introduce the equine vet loan forgiveness bill that was first proposed by the late Assemblyman Dancer. This bill would forgive a portion of loans incurred by students that choose to work in the Garden state.  This is in response to the shortage of veterinarians that is being felt across the industry.

We are also trying to initiate a mentorship program to get prospective equine veterinarians working with established veterinarians to again alleviate the shortage of practitioners.  I am attending meetings and will be sure to report back to you all on the latest developments.

Our long time corporate sponsor Zoetis is with us and we are planning a joint CE for veterinarians and technicians.  This will be happening in mid to late October.  Please look for details of the event.  We hope to see you there.

Have a safe rest of the summer and we will see you in the fall.

Eli
